My Spring Break

Hi! So I know everyone did something fun over the spring break, and let me tell you about my spring break. Over the spring break, I'm now reading Cathing Fire (the 2nd book in the Hunger Games series). To start, I went to Sentosa to try the trapeze and ride bikes with my family. Additionally, I also went to watch The Lorax and Hunger Games with my two friends, April and Rio in Great World City.

Not only my spring break was fun, it was also boring. First, I had to learn to write quarter four chinese vocabulary. Secondly, I didn't travel to a country or island :(. Finally, I couldn't walk away from the computer because I was obsessed with the electronics(It was one fo my New Years Resolutions since 2010). I have noticed that lately, I stepped out of my comfort zone to try new things (e.g. I hung my feet on the bar when I was doing the trapeze even if I was still scared) I will post a new thing on to my blog called Song of the week, I will choose a song with a deep meaning and post it on my blog. This song of the week is: Black Throated Wind by: Bob Weir. I'm looking forward to hear your posts on the Spring break. Happy Hunger Games! Learning update

Hi! It's been a long time since I have done a school learning update, so lets get started with my learning. In math, I learned how to solve pan- balance problems, algebraic expressions, and rates. To start, what is pan- balance prolems? Pan- balance problems are when there's two pans on a pan balance that have 2 or more different units and you have to find out what one unit equals to. Secondly, algebraic expressions are when there's a number model that involves a variable (variables are letters that represent numbers.) For example a algebraic expression could be
n X 4 equals to 24. Finally, rates is like trends that show growth, weathering, or rates.
What did I do or learn in RLA? I learned the elements of fantasy: Protagonist, Antagonist, Super Powers, Mythical creatures, side kick, the mentalist, and symbolism. In the topic of Fantasy, me and Caroline wrote a movie trailer about two guys named Wario

Ethan Allen and the Capture of Fort Ticonderoga

Arnold and 50 men raided Fort saint jean on the Richelieu river. Small Force of Green Mountain boys led by Ethan Allen and colonel Benendict, Arnold overcame a small British carrison at the fort and looted the belonings. Cannons and other weapons were transported to Boston.


Winter at Valley Forge

Troop enters Winter camp Valley Forge. General, Washingtonchose a site on the West Bank at the Schuykill River that could be effectively defended in the event of British Attack. The Patriots forces Washington suffered major defeats against the British at the battles. 11,000 soldiers stationed at Valley Forge. Hundreds died from disease. Suffering troops were held together by loyalty to the Patriots cause and to general, Washington. Prussian military adviser, Frederick von Steuben kept the soldiers busy with drills and training in Modern Military strategy. On June, 19 1788 the men were disciplined and stronger in spirit than when they had entered. Nine days later, they were victorious against the British under Lord Cornwallis at Battle of Monmouth in New Jersey

The Nobodies's social studies essay

History class comes, and Josie sits, bored, and stares blindly at the question on the board, ‘What are some similarities between the Declaration of Independence and the recent 2011 Egyptian Revolution?’ She knows the multiple answers she could give her teacher. Though her mind is still swarming with fluttering questions. ‘Why are all these government-related events occurring as if the people in those countries are trying to bring the past into the future?’ ‘Why are societies all around the world repeatedly walking on the same road as they were in the past?’ With a wondering mind, Josie begins her paragraph on the answers to the question.

From objections towards the Government, to both countries being war-zones while fighting for peace, and accomplishing their goal by over throwing the Government, Egypt and the Original Thirteen Colonies have many similarities between themselves. Both Egypt and the Thirteen Colonies objected to the ruling government during their own times.

The president of Egypt, Hosni Mubarak ruined the economy by giving a low salary to people with jobs, and tens of thousands of workers demanded to have a higher salary. Where as in America, the British Government had been heavily taxing the people and the people though they were being unreasonable. This caused people to rebel and it began the Revolutions.

Moreover, During the protests in Egypt and the Declaration of Independence in America, both places were war zones.  At the time, America was fighting the most powerful country in the world, Britain. Right now, the rebels in Egypt are fighting the strongest country in the Africa, Egypt (the Government).

Finally, Both Rebel teams accomplished their goal and overthrew their government.  

In their own, different ways, the Americans and the Egyptians both tried to use allies to help them win, the Americans used the French, and Egypt tried to use the Iraqis. They both ended up with help and supplies needed to overthrow the government. They both eventually won the war.

In Egypt, they objected to their own Government because of low salary pays, and in America, to the British Government because of taxation without representation. Both societies were in wars with the most powerful countries in their district. Finally, both countries used allies to overthrow the government and they both accomplished their goal.

Looking back at her work, Josie has to admit that she’s proud, but her mind is still packed with questions about the repetition of events in the past.
